Explain Hypnotherapy to Your Child

Prepare your child before coming in

Hypnotherapy is not like talk therapy. The best thing you can do is to prepare your child for what they might experience in a session. I always have underage kids come in with a parent before their first session. When they hear from me basically the same thing they hear from a parent, there is trust built. Here is a good way to get started:

“You know how our brains and bodies are connected? Sometimes when we feel worried, excited, or even when we're not thinking about anything in particular, our bodies develop little habits that happen automatically.

“Hypnotherapy is a way to help your brain and body learn new things using your imagination. It's a little like daydreaming, imagining yourself doing something really well, or getting so caught up in a good book or a movie that you forget everything else around you.

“Someone will help you relax and use your imagination to practice ways to help your body feel comfortable and calm.

“You'll still be awake, you'll hear everything, and you'll always be in control. Nobody can make you do anything you don't want to do.

“It's not a test, and you can't get it wrong. You don't have to try hard or make anything happen. You're just learning some new skills that might help your body.

“And the best part is that you get to learn what works for you!”
